About us
Renting in Kenya shouldn't mean losing your deposit.
TrueHome Kenya is a property website where landlords and agents list homes for rent and sale directly, and where tenants can check who they're dealing with before paying anything.
Why we built TrueHome
Fake landlords, "viewing fees" for houses that don't exist and copied photos cost Kenyan house-hunters their deposits every week. Honest landlords and agents lose out too, because tenants no longer know who to trust. We built TrueHome to make it easy to tell the difference.
How it works
For tenants and buyers
Search homes for free and contact landlords and agents directly on WhatsApp. Before paying anything, check their Verified badge or their phone number on our site.
For landlords and agents
List your property yourself in about 5 minutes. Listing is free during our launch, and tenants message you directly. Verified listers stand out from fake listings.
Scammers get banned
Anyone can report a listing. We remove fake listings and block the scammer and the phone numbers they used, so tenants checking those numbers are warned.
How verification works
Landlords who want the Verified badge send us their National ID and proof that they own the property, such as a title deed, which we check. Estate agents are checked against the register of the Estate Agents Registration Board (EARB). Every badge has its own code that anyone can check on our site, so copied badges don't work.
Verified means lower risk, not zero risk. Always view a property and confirm who you're dealing with before you pay.
What we don't do
- We're not an estate agent and don't own, rent out or sell any of the properties listed.
- We don't take commission on rent or sales.
- We never collect rent, deposits or viewing fees. If anyone asks you to pay "TrueHome", it isn't us.
