How to list your property on TrueHome Kenya
TrueHome Kenya · Updated 23 October 2026
Listing on TrueHome Kenya is free and takes about 5 minutes on your phone. Tenants and buyers contact you directly on WhatsApp or by phone. There are no middlemen and no commission.
Before you start, have these ready
- An email address you can open on your phone (we send you a sign-in link, so there's no password to remember).
- The rent or price, number of bedrooms and bathrooms.
- Your WhatsApp number, which tenants will use to contact you.
- Some photos of the property (up to 10).
Step 1: Sign in
- Go to truehomekenya.com/#list and type your email.
- Open the email from TrueHome Kenya on the same phone and tap the link. You're signed in.
- No email? Check your spam or promotions folder, or try again after a minute.
Step 2: Choose who you are
Tap I'm a landlord, I'm an agent, I'm a caretaker or property manager, or I'm selling a home or land.
Step 3: Describe the property
- Title: say what it is and where, e.g. "Spacious 2 bedroom apartment near Two Rivers".
- Rent or sale, type and kind: e.g. Rent → Apartment → Apartment / flat, or Bedsitter → Single room.
- Price, bedrooms, bathrooms.
- Features: tick everything that applies, such as borehole, token meter, gated compound, DSQ, parking or near matatu stage. Tenants filter by these, so more ticks = more people see your listing.
Step 4: Location (no address needed)
- Type your estate or area (e.g. Githurai 45, Kahawa West, Nyali) and choose the county.
- Add landmarks and directions, the way you'd explain it on the phone: "behind Quickmart, 5 minutes' walk from the stage".
- Tap the map to put the pin exactly on the building. Tenants use this pin to get directions.
Step 5: Photos that get messages
- Take photos in daylight with lights on and curtains open.
- Hold the phone sideways (landscape) and stand in a corner to show the whole room.
- Include the outside, sitting room, kitchen, each bedroom and the bathroom. Add the gate, parking or view if they're good.
- Tidy up first. The first photo is the cover: make it your best one (tap "Make cover").
- Only use photos of this property. Copied photos get listings removed.
Step 6: Contact details and publish
Add the name tenants should ask for and your WhatsApp number, then tap Publish listing. Your listing is live straight away.
Step 7: Get the Verified badge
Tenants trust verified listers more, and the badge shows on all your listings. Tap Get verified and upload:
- Landlords: your National ID and the title deed (we confirm ownership with an official land search).
- Agents: your National ID and your EARB registration number.
- Caretakers / property managers: your National ID and a signed letter from the owner authorising you.
Your documents are stored privately and seen only by our review team. Once approved you get a badge code and QR code that tenants can check, and the phone number on your listings shows a green Verified result when tenants use Check a landlord.
Step 8: Share it
Every listing has a Share button for WhatsApp and Facebook. Post it in housing groups and on your WhatsApp status. The link opens your listing with photos, map and your contact buttons. Verified listers can share their badge too.
Keep your listing working for you
- Rentals stay live for 60 days and sales for 90 days. When it's nearly due, tap Still available under My listings to keep it up. Editing a listing also renews it.
- Let or sold? Delete the listing so tenants don't keep calling.
- See how many people viewed it under My listings.
Our rules (short version)
- Only list property you own or are authorised to let or sell.
- No "viewing fees" or deposits before a tenant has viewed the property.
- Accurate price, photos and location. Fake listings are removed and the lister is blocked.
